European Day of Languages at Prep
Monday 26 September was the ‘European Day of Languages’ and the Prep School celebrated with a range of activities that took place throughout the week.
More than 100 boys signed up for the different activities, pupils tried their hand at learning some Catalan led by Mr Mulligan and German led by Alexander Portius in P3C. The boys quickly picked up the two new languages and were soon having basic conversations with each other.
The fun continued with a languages themed treasure hunt with the boys having to find the twelve different European greetings and identify which language they were in. The boys were quickly on the hunt with many boys successfully finding all twelve greetings.
The celebrations culminated with the much anticipated ‘Taster Challenge’ in which the boys had to try eight different cuisines and identify what country they were from. Much fun was had by all as the boys tried dishes from Spain, Italy, Greece, the Czech Republic, Sweden and many more. All of the boys were very adventurous and plucked up the courage to try some of the more unusual dishes. The boys are already looking forward to next year’s celebrations!
