Charities - School Charity (Sheffield mencap and gateway)

This year the Senior School has chosen to support Sheffield Mencap and Gateway. This charity was set up in 1951 by parents of people with learning disabilities and who wanted to give their children a better life. They are now the largest local charity providing support and services for children and adults with a learning disability in Sheffield.

The projects run by the Charity are wide-ranging, from enabling people to develop to their full potential through education and training opportunities, to providing sport and leisure activities and friendship support and relief for families.

Sheffield Mencap and Gateway is a local charity and although it is affiliated to the Royal Mencap Society. They receive no funding from them.
