Why Choose Birkdale?

At Birkdale standards of teaching and learning are very high. Our pupils are taught in small classes by highly motivated teachers who go the “extra mile” for them. At the centre of what we do is our care and attention for each individual pupil in close partnership with their parents.

Birkdale is the only Independent School in Sheffield offering an education for boys, in a single sex environment from 4 years up to the age of 16. We feel a single sex education allows boys to explore the full breadth of their potential. Prep School pupils are also able to transfer seamlessly to the Senior School.

Girls join Birkdale in the Sixth Form, providing the natural mix which will be encountered at Higher Education.

Our exam results are among the best in the region. In 2011, 70% of all GCSE entries achieved A*or A grade - the best in South Yorkshire.

At A Level, 76% of all entries were A* to B grade and nearly a 37% of all entries achieved the new A* Grade. More than half of all the A Level entries were A* or A Grade.
