Engineering stars of the future

Birkdale School has been awarded three Arkwright scholarships this year. These are only given out to high calibre engineering candidates. The pupils have to compete with over 800 applicants from across the country to demonstrate flair and originality in solving Engineering Design problems and also present work to a panel of interviewers.
Max Revitt, John Hopkins and Chris Cummins all currently in the Lower Sixth and all electronic engineers, were selected as students of outstanding ability in this field and who will be taking engineering further at University to become engineers of the future. A ceremony was recently held at the Institute of Engineering & Technology in London for them to receive the award.
The award is to encourage more pupils to tackle ambitious engineering projects and is provided by sponsors from high level national prestigious engineering companies.
Max is being sponsored by the Royal Navy, Chris by Rolls Royce and John by The Technology Project (TTP), an award winning product development company based near Cambridge.
