The Times/Bank of England Target 2.0 Interest Rate Challenge
01 March 2007
The team of Georgina Smallman, James Cull, Dominic Shaw and Robert Campbell came a very creditable runner-up in a national semi-final of this prestigious competition, held on Wednesday 28 February at Whirlowbrook Hall.

7 teams competed, all winners of their own regional round, and including several former national finalists.
The team had to make a presentation to Bank of England judges, recommending the interest rate required in their view to meet the Government’s target for inflation of 2%.
Judges agreed that the teams from Birkdale and winners Leeds Grammar School were by the strongest by some margin, and singled out Birkdale for the depth and quality of their research.
The team won a considerable prize of £650.
Mr Stoddard is very proud of the team’s achievements!
