Birkdale Under 15 7's Rugby team reach the final at Hall Cross Tournament

The Under 15 Rugby 7's team took part in the Hall Cross invitation 7's at Doncaster RUFC. A prestigious tournament, Birkdale were drawn in a very tough group including Kings Grantham Hall Cross and Crossley Heath. In the first group game against Crossley Heath, Birkdale unexpectedly ran out comfortable winners 24- 7 before losing their next game to Hall Cross

This left the group wide open. A superb win 22-7 against Kings School saw Birkdale top the group to play Nottingham High School in the semi-final. 12-0 down at half time Nottingham looked to be cruising but a spirited fight back saw Birkdale snatch the game 17-12 in one of the best performances ever.
This put Birkdale through to the final which was again a hard fought affair playing South Hunsley School. Birkdale eventually lost 28-7. The players are to be congratulated for such a spirited display, and the future looks very promising with this team.
