Rugby Sevens at Mount St Mary’s
05 March 2007
Both the Under 14 and first team sevens squads took part in the Mount St Mary’s invitation sevens tournament Sunday 4 March. Playing in the most atrocious conditions, they both acquitted themselves remarkably well.

The First 7 lost to Sedbergh School, the eventual winners of the competition, before going on to secure some notable victories against Leeds Grammar School and Loughborough Grammar school.
They finished second in their group and met Hymers in the Quarter final of the main cup competition. This was a very hard fought game which Birkdale eventually lost.

The Under 14's Beat Caldy Grammar School in their first game, followed by a draw against Denstone College, another fine win over Mount St Mary’s before losing their final game to Portsmouth Grammar school. This saw them through to the Semi-final of the competition. However by this time due to the worsening conditions and a number of injuries Birkdale withdrew form the competition putting they safety and well-being of the players above all.
