Classics Competition
09 May 2007

On Saturday 5th May, James Mullen and Richard Wilson, two members of the Lower 6th Latin set, along with two teachers travelled to Malvern to take part in the first ever pan-European CICERO Classics competition.
The day featured two tasks: translating a Latin passage with a contemporary European theme, and answering questions on the myth of Europa and its influence on European culture.
Using a video-conferencing link, students in England, Paris and Berlin were in touch as they all competed on the same tasks.
Boris Johnson appeared on video to add his best wishes and support for the event. The potential prizes of £150 for each winning entry certainly focussed the minds of our entrants.
The results will be out in about two weeks, so watch this space.
