Drawn in a tough group, Birkdale beat both Fulneck School, from Leeds and Sandbach School in their opening two games followed by two hard fought losses against Longridge Towers School from Northumberland and then a close game with King Edward VII and Queen Mary School (who later defeated the mighty Kirkham Grammar school).

On the Sunday they faced Leicester Grammar school and lost after leading at half time which left them fourth in the group and facing a tough plate match against King's Grantham. Birkdale played some excellent Sevens rugby to win this game comfortably and progressed through to the quarter final for the first time, to face Dame Allen's School. Birkdale again played some great 7's rugby but although leading for almost all of the game, could not hold on and succumbed to a late try by Dame Allen's to lose 12-10.

Congratulations to all those who took part.
