Birkdale Maths Champions at the 12th Annual Sheffield Pop Maths Quiz

This event at Sheffield Hallam University attracts entries from schools all over South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire. The format is similar to a pub quiz, 20 challenging maths questions are read out and the teams, of no more than 6 people, work under time pressure to answer as many as they can.
In the under 14 event, which saw the greatest number of schools, the team from Birkdale were victorious.
The Senior competition of 16 years plus, saw stiff competition from Sheffield High School, Nottingham High School and reigning champions King Edward VII to name but three. The questions were extremely difficult and the team put in a tremendous performance to win the event!
All the winners received a book token and plaque as well as a magnificent cup, which is retained for the year.
