David Badger, aged 19, from Birkdale School in Sheffield, won second prize with his trailer/caravan manoeuvring device, at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held recently in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.

David won the right to take part in ISEF, which lasted over eight days, as part of his prize for success in the final of the 2006 Young Engineer for Britain competition held in London last September. At this, he won the 17-19 age category with his Design and Technology project called ‘TUG’.

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is the world’s only international science fair representing all life sciences for students. Every year, more than one million students aged 16 to 18 years, compete in fairs held around the world.

This award for David clearly brings prestige for both the school and for him, and perhaps it may even be a life changing experience.

Congratulations go to David and we will follow his career in engineering with a great deal of interest. David is now in the process of refining his design to make it suitable for production within the commercial market place.
