John Hopkins

Old Birkdalian and intrepid cyclist John Hopkins cycled 875miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats

John Hopkins, who left Birkdale in 1949, has written a very readable book which will appeal to all “End to Enders” as well as all those who would never consider attempting a journey from one end of Britain to the other.

The author John Hopkins, set out with Gordon Young in April 2004 to cycle the length of Britain. The book chronicles their progress pointing out sites of interest along the journey, recounting local legends and lesser known facts gleaned through meetings in pubs and B&B’s along the way. The photographs are also magnificent and portray the many different landscapes viewed along the way.

If you would like to share in this journey, please contact Northend Creative Print Solutions, Clyde Road, Sheffield S8 0TZ.

The book is called “Follow the Yellow Gorse Road”, by John Hopkins and Gordon Leadbeater and is priced at £18.50 inclusive of package and postage at £2.50
