The Old Boys side, led by last years 1st X1 captain Matt Hale, consisted of a team mostly from last years Upper Sixth.

From the start it was evident who had been playing football all season and who had barely kicked a ball. The games result seemed clear at half time when Birkdale were 4 - 0 up. The large crowd cheered both teams on but the 1st X1 strolled through The Old Boys defence and ended the game with a record 8-0 victory, the biggest recorded in the annual fixtures history.

The presentation took place on the field after the game and Birkdale 1st X1 captain Jeremy Webster accepted the trophy from Birkdale’s Headmaster Mr R Court. After 5 games, the 1st X1 sides have won 3 games and The Old Boys have won 2.
