20 February 2008

Ted Brady (Y11), James Baird (Y11), and Harry Ralston (Y10) enjoyed the tremendous experience of playing at Hoylake, Royal Liverpool Golf Course against Kingsmead School.

It was a privilege to be able to play at such a famous course with such a history. Many major tournaments have been hosted here since it was established in 1869 and only two years ago Tiger Woods won The Open at Hoylake. However the boys were not over-awed by the surroundings and all played very well indeed.

Birkdale won two of the three matches, the other being a draw. This was a very memorable day for everybody involved, just to play at such a great golf course – but to win as well was something special. They now progress to the next round of the competition where they play North Cestrian at Hallamshire Golf Club, Sheffield.
