‘Project Paddington’ - Sent with Love!

We have been delighted by the response to the 'Project Paddington' appeal. Throughout Pre-Prep the boys have been bringing in their teddies to donate to refugee children to demonstrate both love and concern.

'Project Paddington' was set up by a Birkdale Mother whose boys are now grown up at Senior School. When staff heard about the project we felt it was a wonderful way to respond to this difficult crisis. By bringing a teddy to send to refugees, the Pre-Prep boys could get involved with helping others in need in a practical and positive way.

Mrs Oliver has kindly led this initiative and talked to the boys in assembly. She explained how sad the refugee children would feel leaving their home and belongings. A gift of a teddy sent from a friend would certainly cheer them a little. She was able to show the boys a video clip of the first refugees receiving some of the first teddies sent and the joy it gave.

The boys were pleased to help and the next day teddies were appearing in the classroom and kind donations towards transport costs given by parents who we thank immensely for their support.

The boys have now labelled their ‘Paddington’ with a message of love and they are all ready for their journey to hopefully bring a smile to some less fortunate children.
