‘The Play’s the Thing’ for Prep-School Drama!
The boys in the Prep School Drama club, involved in the Shakespeare Schools Festival, went to The Montgomery Theatre to attend a half day workshop.
This was an opportunity for the students from various schools around the city to share their ‘work-in-progress’ of the various Shakespeare plays they are preparing to perform in November. Our boys have been very busy rehearsing their roles in an adaptation of Hamlet and they were delighted by the opportunity to performing in front of an audience as well as experiencing the stage.
The boys were able to benefit from useful acting tips and techniques from professional actors and directors. They also enjoyed watching Greengate School perform a scene from ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’. Later they were asked to critique the performance they saw and come up with some ideas to improve performances.
Finally there were some extremely loud vocal and physical exercises with a cool down to end the workshop! The boys returned to school invigorated and inspired.
All are welcome to come and enjoy our Hamlet production and tickets are available from the Montgomery Theatre for the performance on Tuesday 10 November.
