Prep Rugby Double!

Having already won the Terrington Hall Sevens this term, the U11s travelled to Pocklington in confident mood and this time with the U10s in tow.

In the group stage, the 11s struggled to reach the heights of the previous week but still managed to top their group following solid victories against Ashville College (20-15), Pocklington (15-5) and Hymers 'B' (20-5). They were evidently saving themselves to peak at the right time as, come the semi-final, they played some fantastic sevens to defeat Hymers 'A' (10-5) before absolutely dominating the final to secure the trophy with a 30-5 win over Bronte House for a second tournament win in a row, increasing their sevens record this season to played 10, won 10.

The U10s, in their first sevens outing, were no less impressive as they topped their group thanks to excellent victories against Bronte House (20-5), Hymers (25-10) and Hill House (5-0). The semi-final against Ashville was an absolute cracker. Despite going behind early on, Birkdale fought back to level the game and, just as extra-time was looming large, scored in the corner to win it 10-5. The final saw a repeat of the opening game of the tournament against Bronte House. Birkdale again played some wonderful stuff to secure the trophy and end their season on a brilliant high with a 20-5 victory.

It was a fantastic afternoon with some wonderful rugby played and the boys shouldn't underestimate the size of their achievements, to win both tournaments in the same afternoon.

The U11s round off their season at St Olave's with the HMC Sevens on Tuesday.
