Outdoor Pursuits in Castleton

Prep 2 enjoyed a sunny couple of days in and around Castleton in the beautiful High Peak.

Pupils and staff set off early in the morning for the Hollowford Outdoor Centre. Here we enjoyed a full day of activities which included:  high ropes, low ropes and assault course, archery, team tasks and the now famed Zip Wire.  Boys had to work collaboratively and many pushed themselves to do things they had never done before.

After a tasty tea on this first day, we were treated to Birkdale’s Got Talent.  Many boys have indeed got many hidden talents!

The next day dawned bright and sunny.  After breakfast, we set off to walk to Treakcliff Caves and were taken on a guided tour underground.  We then went by coach to the Chestnut Centre. After enjoying a picnic in the sun, we visited the polecats, owls, deer and otters.  We even managed to see the giant otters being fed, which was a real treat.

Our tour party arrived back at school - tired but happy!
