Young Athletes Enjoy Sports Days

The Prep School boys enjoyed two Sports Days in perfect sunny conditions last week.

The Prep (junior) event took place first where the boys took part in eight Athletics events, competing in Houses and as individuals, with a possible 100 points available for each event. After two hours of grit and determination it was Roberts House who would defend their title from Westbury, Osborn and Martin. New school records were set by Andrew Charlish in the 400m (1.08mins) and jointly by Andrew Charlish and Nathaniel Morrison in the triple jump (6.26m). In the Individual competition, Charlie Roebuck pipped Sammy Hinchliffe to win the Prep 1 trophy, while George Turner romped home to take the Prep 2 award. In Prep 3 Fergus Cooke became the third different boy in three years to win the trophy, while Andrew Charlish narrowly beat Nathaniel Morrison to win the title in Prep 4. The afternoon’s concluding activity, the famous House Tug of War competition, was won by Westbury House.

The following day saw the Pre-Prep (infant) department take part in their Sports Day in similar sunny conditions. A far more relaxed atmosphere, at least amongst the boys, followed and lots of fun was had by all. The boys took part in eight relay-based skills stations, scoring points solely for their House. Once plenty of difficult maths had been done by Mr Dymock, it was Osborn House who took home the trophy!

Well done to all the boys who took part across the two events.
