Prep Rugby Top of the Class!

This season so far has seen amazing success on the Rugby field for teams at U9, U10 and U11 level. All three ‘A’ teams have excellent records with both the U9 (six from six) and U10 (eleven from eleven) teams boasting 100% records despite facing some excellent opposition from across the length and breadth of Northern England. Indeed, of the 71 rugby matches played at all levels this term, the overwhelming majority have been won.

Despite the RFU’s new guidelines on having no ‘competitive tournaments’ below U14 level, meaning that no trophies were awarded, the U11 team had the joint-best record, with Bronte House, of won 5, lost 1 at the prestigious HMC Rugby Festival held at Leeds Grammar. The U10 side enjoyed similar success at Trent College for their sevens festival, winning all of their games by at least four tries.

Just as pleasing has been the ability to field B, C and D teams across several year groups, allowing all the boys wanting to take part, to represent Birkdale on the Rugby field. With further A-D fixtures scheduled against the rugby powerhouses of QEGS Wakefield, GSAL, Manchester Grammar and St Olave’s, the season is far from over and the boys at each level are excited about what’s to come.

Well done to all who have appeared in the red and blue so far this season, and good luck to those boys (U11a-c and U10a-d) who travel to Leeds Grammar this Friday.
