Prep Make Quiz Club History

Following on from an incredible display in the local heats, for the first time in the competition’s history, Quiz Club invited two teams from the same school to the national semi-final as they’d be so impressed with the Birkdale scores from Round 1.

The eight boys travelled to The Grammar School at Leeds and faced teams from ten other schools across the North of England from as far afield as Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham and Manchester. Despite the strength of the opposition, the two teams were again unstoppable and finished first and second in the contest. The parents and staff from the other schools were suitably impressed!

With some fascinating and incredibly difficult questions on topics such as the location of the planet’s fresh water, World War Two pipelines, the Blue Danube and Star Wars, both teams showed phenomenal knowledge as a ding dong battle ensued for top spot. At the end of the fortieth question, it was Team 2 who had just stolen the trophy with a brilliant score of 2025 – the highest score in any semi-final across the country! The team of Louis Insull, Hugo Hurrell, Seth Hillier and Simon Peng now progress to June’s National Final at Oxford Town Hall, looking to better last year’s team’s performance of finishing sixth in the country. Good luck in the National Final!
