18 Birkdale students visit Kathmandu in Nepal this week on the Birkdale annual Easter three week trip. They will also be accompanied by 8 students from Rishworth School in West Yorkshire, with their Head Master Alastair Gloag and former Deputy Headmaster at Birkdale.
The main aim for everyone involved this year is to teach in three schools located in Kathmandu – the Peace Garden School which was built and has been supported by Birkdale since Birkdale first started going to Nepal in 2001, the Noble School and the Bungamati School. Bungamati School is currently in the process of trying to source improved buildings and the team going will also try to help with this.
The children in these schools look forward immensely to the arrival of our students. The Nepalese pupils benefit enormously from the enthusiasm and hard work brought by everyone on the visit and a lot of teaching planning and preparation has already gone into the lessons that our students will be delivering over the next three weeks. Similarly, money has been raised to provide the students in the three schools with much needed items to help improve their overall educational experience.
