The Annual Sixth Form History Society Lecture took place last week in the Lecture Theatre. The speaker this year was Dr Catherine Fletcher who talked on "Wolf Hall - the story of Thomas Cromwell".
Dr Fletcher from the Sheffield University History Department was an historical advisor for the recent BBC TV drama called Wolf Hall and based on Booker Prize winning novels by Dame Hilary Mantel. This historical drama chronicled the rise of Thomas Cromwell, the son of a humble blacksmith who became King Henry VIII's chief minister, as he navigated the corridors of power in the Tudor court.
The lecture was very informative and well received by students, parents, teachers and members of the wider society and was organised by the students from the school History Society.
