Mr Brook and Mr Cook both took part over the weekend in an arduous cycle race.
The ‘Wiggle Flatout in the Fens’ began in Peterborough, through to Kings Lynn, Boston and then back to Peterborough, a total of 154 miles. This was completed by both of them in just over eleven hours, having started at 7.00am Sunday morning! The aim was in support of the recent Nepal earthquake.
The race is quite simply the original UK longest, flattest single day sportive in Britain. Options to engage with included the longest route at 154 miles, an Iron Man triathlon distance option of 112 miles, and a shorter route of just short of 80 miles to tickle your cycling delights. This is the sportive with big horizons and big distances!
Mr Brook said: ‘Mental strength and high cadence is a pre-requisite for this event. No relaxing off either, you've just got to stay on the pedals to make your way around. This is a sportive with a difference, and proves more popular each year with nearly 1,000 riders taking part.’
Well done to both of them on completing this immense challenge – evidently they are super fit and very keen cyclists.
