Concert Raises over £790 for Nepal Charities!

On Sunday 13 September Birkdale joined forces with the Sheffield Youth Orchestra to raise funds for our Nepal Charity. Over 50 young musicians, together with parents and members of staff, dusted down their instruments to rehearse and perform such well-known orchestral pieces including Sibelius' Finlandia and Gershwin's West Side Story.

A collection was held after the concert and a over £790 was given by those in attendance to support the school's ongoing charitable work in Nepal.

Keith Brook MBE who leads our annual trip to Nepal to support the Peace Garden school and other charitable initiatives in the country said: "What better way to kick-off our school term and further fund raising for Nepal with a wonderful massed orchestral rehearsal and concert. It was wonderful to have over 50 young musicians - many of whom have never performed together - joining forces in this way.

My thanks to all members and organisers of the Sheffield Youth Orchestra and of course Birkdale pupils, parents and staff - together we raised over £790 for our Nepal Charities - this is a simply wonderful achievement."
