Outstanding Performance at Christmas Concert

The Senior School Christmas concert took place last week. The packed audience were once again thrilled at the incredibly high standard of the Birkdale musicians.
As usual, a large number of pupils from all year groups took part, performing in a range of groups such as the Sax Ensemble, the Lower School Choir, the String Quartet, the Wind Ensemble, the Brass Band, the Male Voice Choir, the Sax Quartet, the String Orchestra and Big Band.
The musicians played to an incredibly high standard, and all the performances were very well-received by the audience. Particular highlights included the Lower School Choir’s enthusiastic rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Avicii’s “The Nights”; the Brass Band’s rousing performance of the theme from “Game of Thrones” and Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” (the latter with full audience participation); the Male Voice Choir’s rendition of “Stars” from “Les misérables” (with a surprise ending which even Mr Jordan wasn’t expecting); and a generally fabulous send-off by Big Band.
As people left at the end, the general consensus was that the concert and had done much to lift everyone’s spirits and to put them in the mood for Christmas.
