Birkdale School is delighted to announce that 12 students have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities this academic year.
The success of 12 Birkdale School students in gaining places at the highly competitive and sought after Oxbridge Universities is a simply outstanding achievement. The awarding of university places is a key focus for all Year 13 Birkdale pupils and offers of university places reflect many years of focused and dedicated education. A number of these successful Oxbridge students have been at Birkdale since the reception year at our Prep School whilst others joined us for their Sixth Form studies.
It is of significant note that these students have secured places at Oxbridge Colleges for a wide range of different courses including Medicine, Engineering, Modern Languages, Geography, History, Economics and English Literature.
Helen Parsons, Head of Birkdale School Sixth Form, said: “I am absolutely thrilled for our 12 successful Oxbridge candidates and also for the ongoing success of all our Year 13 students in achieving their desired places at universities both in this country and also overseas.
University places, whatever the course, are nowadays hugely competitive and apart from our fine academic teaching I have no doubt the care and focus we place on ‘soft’ interview skills here at Birkdale, really helps to put our students in the very strongest position to compete for the course and university of their choice”.
Dr Paul Owen, Head Master, commented: “We are delighted by the success of these outstanding students who have worked so incredibly hard over many years to reach the very highest of academic standards. I am most grateful to the many expert teachers who have supported these students with their university applications and interview preparation. We wish them all well as they go on to the next exciting chapter of their formal education”.
