On Tuesday 19 January Birkdale hosted an Auction of Promises in support of the school’s Nepal charities and earth quake victims.
Over 60 varied auction lots - from reflexology to holiday destinations and everything in between – had been generously donated by supporters of the school’s outstanding charitable work in Nepal.
Indeed, in less than a year Birkdale School has raised in excess of £100,000, all of which through the school’s network of in-country contacts will be sure to be fully utilised on the ground.
Helen Frost who organised the event said: “I am very grateful to everyone who donated such wonderful auction lots. You cannot be successful at an event like this without a varied and large number of promises to auction. The great success of the evening and the monies we raised is in no doubt down to the great generosity of all our supporters. The auction was also reliant on the helpful assistance received from various Departments within School and the wider Community."
Keith Brook, who will lead Birkdale’s sixteenth visit to Nepal in the second week of March added: “It was a simply wonderful evening. Everyone had lots of fun and over £5,000 was raised to support the work we do for people in Nepal. I cannot thank enough everyone who gave of their time to organise the event, offered the fantastic selection of Auction Promises, and of course those people who bid and purchased the varied lots. We will be making sure every penny raised goes to supporting our Peace Garden School in Nepal and other ventures we are currently involved with too”.
