As part of the annual competition run by The Royal Society of Chemistry, Birkdale was privileged to be chosen as one of four Sheffield and Chesterfield schools to take part in the local heat of the Competition, held at the University of Sheffield.
Accompanied by Chemistry teacher, Dr AbouZeid, the L6 (Y12) students William Cassels, Max Doody and Danial Rostami-Hochaghan were required to perform, over a period of 3 hours, various analytical procedures ranging from titrations to spectroscopic analyses.
The teams would be judged for practical skills, understanding and accuracy. The results will be announced in about a week’s time and the winning local team will be amongst 20 regional winners to participate in the National Final to be held in June.
Good luck to the Birkdale team.
