Last weekend saw the group spending a night at Castle Dyke as part of a training, information sharing and getting to know you session. They even slept on the pavilion floor to experience the conditions they will face in Nepal!
The group have three main objectives which include:
- Medical support led by Professor Stuart Tanner.
- Engineering led by Neil Robertson and (in an advisory capacity) Professor Pilakoutas. Birkdale have linked up with the University of Sheffield and attended 6 seismic training sessions to enable them to work on strengthening buildings.
- Teaching English as a Foreign Language, led by Mr Kenyon.
Training was also given by Dr Darren Weiss from the Humble Brush Foundation who came all the way from Israel to deliver a talk about improving oral hygiene and why it is so important.
This week the group were provided with vacuum bags which were kindly donated by Scott Brothers Ltd for transporting charity donations to Nepal. The group depart from Birkdale School on Tuesday 15 March.
