Westminster Work Experience

Lewis Chinchen (L6) had the unique and exciting opportunity of being able to undertake 3 days of insightful work experience in the office of Andrew Bingham MP at Westminster. Lewis provides his own account of the experience.

"On Tuesday morning, I had the pleasure of accompanying Mr Bingham to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee which enabled me to gain a deep insight into the mechanics of parliamentary scrutiny; the evidence given was interesting, concerning the impact of Brexit on UK tourism.

Wednesday began with a guided tour of the parliamentary estate, just a couple of hours before Prime Minister's questions was set to get underway. On Thursday I was thrilled to have been able to watch a Commons debate from the public gallery, where well known politicians like Alex Salmond and Yvette Cooper made speeches.

I cannot truly thank Mr Bingham and his office enough for welcoming me so warmly and for allowing me to gain a true insight into British democracy, as well as Dr Pitfield for helping to organise it all."
