Birkdale student, Lucy da Costa completed the London Marathon on Sunday, raising over £2,500 in the process. She was running in support of CLIC Sargent – a charity important to Lucy’s family. Well done Lucy from everyone at Birkdale. If you would like to donate, please go to Lucy’s Just Giving page via the link here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Lucy-da-Costa
When cancer strikes young lives, CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. From diagnosis, CLIC Sargent’s specialist care teams step in, ready to help, support and guide. They provide a specialist package of support tailored to each young cancer patient and family.
By her own admission, Lucy is not a natural runner. She began training for the Marathon in order to challenge herself and raise money for this exceptional charity at the same time.
Lucy said; “I did feel nervous about the day, but I knew I could finish. It gave me so much motivation thinking about helping other people. It was a fantastic experience.”
