Robert Parker, cousin to Mr Howard Parker in the Geography Department (Head of Geography from September 2008) has gained a First Class Geography Honours Degree from Durham University coming third out of 200 students.

Rob left Birkdale School in 2004, having studied Geography to A level (and taught by Mr Parker for some of his courses).

He continues his studies in Geography as he now starts as part of a research team going out to the recent Earthquake zone in China (Sichuan) to look at the landslide situation in order to understand where and why landslides are occurring and the spatial pattern of human vulnerability to this hazard.
