Sporting Profile - Captains Hallam C.C. in the South Yorkshire Premier League. Represented Gloucestershire CCC from U9 to U16 and English Universities, for whom he won the Home Nations Championship in 2003. Won the U13 National Knock-Out with Cheltenham CC and won the 2014 ECB Indoor Cricket National Championship at Lord's with his beloved Dearne CC. Has played Football for Gloucestershire U11 and U12 and now turns out for F.C. Philadelphia on a Saturday morning. Enjoys a game of Golf whenever possible at Hallamshire G.C., playing off a handicap of 11.

Favourite Sporting Moment - A Steven Gerrard-inspired Liverpool, coming back from 3-0 down to defeat AC Milan and win the 2005 Champions League

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Coaching the U10a Rugby team to a near-faultless season in 2010/11, including the highlight of beating QEGS and St Olave's in the space of a week; the first Birkdale side to do so in over a decade.

Sporting Hero - Brett Lee

Sporting Profile - Plays Cricket for Hallam C.C. in the South Yorkshire Premier League. Represented Derbyshire CCC from U10 through to 2nd XI level. Played for The Midlands at U14 and U15, which included being the leading wicket taker at the prestigious 2002 Bunbury Festival where he played alongside England goalkeeper Joe Hart and England all-rounder Moeen Ali. Won the 2014 ECB Indoor Cricket National Championship at Lord's with his beloved Dearne CC. Currently a member of Hallowes G.C. where he plays off a generous handicap of 22. Turning his arm to many sports, he has a highest Snooker break of 33 and holds ambitions of one day making a 180 at Darts.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Steve Harmison dismissing Michael Kasprowicz at Edgbaston to defeat Australia by 2 runs and level the 2005 Ashes series.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Watching his U10a Rugby team perform out of their skin to win the 2014 Bradford Grammar Tournament, including epic victories against Yarm, Bronte House, Bradford Grammar and QEGS.

Sporting Hero - Matt Dawson

Sporting Profile - Represented Somerset as a junior at both Cricket (U11-U16) and Rugby (U11-U20). Went on to play the latter for Combined British Universities before turning pro and signing for Bath, Leeds and Fylde before his latest move to Otley, where he plays at scrum-half in National League 2N. On the cricket field he became an opening batsman turned off-spinner and played for Bath C.C. in the West of England Premier League before his Rugby commitments took priority.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Elvis Seveali'i's last-gasp try for Bath against London Irish on the final weekend of the 2002/03 Premiership season. The try kept Bath up and relegated local rivals Bristol.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Leading the U11b team to HMC Rugby glory at Leeds Grammar in October 2012.

Sporting Hero - Scott Gibbs

Sporting Profile - An Old Birkdalian, he also played football for Sheffield Wednesday Academy and Rugby for Saracens Academy. He represented Yorkshire from U13 level and the North of England at U17 and U18 before being selected three years on the trott for Loughborough University. He then travelled to New Zealand to play provincial rugby for North Otago before returning to his home town to play for the 1st XV at Abbeydale. He has since graduated to the role of Player-Coach. His coaching roles also include a post as a Lead Coach with the RFU on their Developing Player Pathway (ERDPP). A true all-round sportsman, he also plays golf to a handicap of 8.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Being in attendance to watch Europe regain the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in 2010.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Touring South Africa as a member of the 1st XV and playing at Loftus Versfeld against Pretoria Boys.

Sporting Hero - Sir Ian Botham

Sporting Profile - Represented his school and university at Cricket and Rugby. Highlights included selection for Kent at Rugby at U14 level and catching West Indian World Cup winner, Collis King in a York League match in 2000. Currently captain of Hallam C.C. 4th XI and a local league umpire. He has coached Rugby, Cricket and Football in Prep Schools for over 18 years including coaching the New Beacon Colts team to three successive Kent Cup victories. He is rightly proud both of his numerous Snooker trophies won in the Winchester & District Snooker League in the mid-1990s and his decision to allow cricket bats to be used at breaktime in the Birkdale playground.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Jonny Wilkinson's last minute drop goal to win the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Seeing his son score a typical hooker's try followed by a perfect rendition of Graeme Swann's 'The Sprinkler' dance to give the U10a side an early lead en route to victory at QEGS in 2011.

Sporting Hero - Martin Johnson

Sporting Profile - Currently captains the 1st XV from the second row at Sheffield Rugby Club under the watchful eye of Mr Byron. Spent five years as a professional, playing for Doncaster Knights in the Championship. In his younger days he represented Yorkshire at U20 and England at U16 level. In his youth he also had great success in the 400m Hurdles, making it to the British trials at U16.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Watching Tiger Woods' famous chip-in at the 16th en route to winning the 2005 Masters at Augusta.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Going one better than his idol, Arsene Wenger by coaching the U11 footballers to HMC 7-a-side glory at Hymers College in 2016.

Sporting Profile - Represented West Midlands at Swimming, Birmingham City Academy at Football and Moseley RUFC as a junior. Has also gained his Black Belt at Judo.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Pele's 'goal that never was' as he dummied brilliantly to pass the keeper but then put his shot wide against Uruguay at the 1970 World Cup.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Leading the 1st VII to victory in the Bowl Competition at the prestigious Fylde Sevens Tournament in 2008.

Sporting Hero - Ryan Lochte

Sporting Profile - A County and North East Regional swimmer in the breaststroke, his main sporting successes have come from coaching. He has coached swimmers to medals in the Junior Olympics and European Junior Championships including a double National Champion.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Seeing friend, James Kirton qualify for the Beijing Olympics in the 200m Breaststroke.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Coaching two P4 boys to qualification for the IAPS National Swimming Finals in 2011.

Sporting Profile - Has represented Great Britain at Judo where he is a 3rd Dan Black Belt. Has also played county standard Rugby when he took the field for Gloucestershire Schools at U19 level. As an adult he also played at a very good standard, turning out for Rosslyn Park 1st XV.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Bradley Wiggins winning the 2012 Tour de France, the first Briton to do so.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Too many (18 years' worth) to simply pick one!

Sporting Heroes - Glenn Hoddle, Sir Viv Richards & Eric Liddell

Sporting Profile - A hard-hitting batsman and medium pace swing bowler, who represented Essex as a junior. He went on to play ECB Premier League Cricket in both Essex and Hampshire. He also played county standard Squash when aged 18 whilst also captaining his school.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Gazza's freekick for his beloved Spurs against Arsenal in the 1991 FA Cup semi-final.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Leading the U15 Cricket side to the National T20 semi-finals in 2009, narrowly missing out on the finals day at Headingley.

Sporting Profile - Proudly represented Monkton Combe RUFC U14 team during their undefeated 1976 season before, as an adult, going on to represent Sheffied Tigers 3rd XV. He also enjoys captaining Fulwood Church Cricket team.

Favourite Sporting Moment - Seeing Francois Pienaar lift the World Cup for South Africa in their first tournament following the end of Apartheid.

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Seeing Birkdale turn out teams at 'C' level at every age group in the 2012/13 Rugby season, allowing every boy in P2, P3 and P4 to represent their school

Sporting Profile - A keen footballer and racket sportsman, Mr Bish no longer plays competitively but enjoys turning out in the staff's 5-a-side kick-about once a week. He also likes a variety of racket sports with his favourite being badminton. In his spare time he also enjoys a spot of weight-lifting! 

Favourite Sporting Moment - Norwich City's triumphant 2014/15 Championship season, seeing them secure promotion back to the Premier League

Favourite Birkdale Moment - Seeing the Senior School orchestra perform brilliantly in the 2014 production of Sweeney Todd.
