Psychology
Psychology is defined as the scientific study of all forms of human and animal behaviour. It is the study of the mind and addresses the issue of why individuals think and act in certain ways.
This subject is becoming increasingly popular as the fields of psychiatry, psychotherapy, artificial intelligence and cognitive science are expanding. The framework of the A-level provides a sound basis for psychology and other subjects at degree level. The A-level also develops the ability to analyse and research. These are essential skills in work and higher education. Psychology can be taken as a one year AS course or as a two year A2 course.
Students are taught the OCR syllabus, traditionally considered the most academic of the examination boards offering the subject. The advanced GCE is made up of two mandatory units at AS and two further units at A2.
