Science
The Science Department aims to inspire pupils with awe and wonder at the world through an investigative approach to the Sciences that encourages critical thinking.
Lower School pupils, Y7 & 8/S1 & 2, study an integrated Science course with one teacher which includes an innovative module of experimental activities and investigations.
Middle School pupils, Y9 - 11/S3 – S5, are taught three separate Sciences by subject specialists culminating in either Triple Award or Double Award GCSE examination.
Biology, Chemistry and Physics A levels are all very popular choices in the Sixth Form with many going on to study related degrees at University. External examination results are strong at all levels and reflect the commitment of the teaching staff and pupils to the study of Science. Eight well - equipped laboratories include data-logging facilities, video projectors and a suite of laptops. They are supported by three dedicated and well qualified technicians.
Enthusiasm for the subject is such that we run extra-curricular activities within the department; we always enter national competitions and regularly enjoy considerable success.
