The Christmas concert is always a highlight of the year, and once again, a packed Heeley Hall was treated to some exceptional performances. The four choirs sang a variety of songs, including a very spirited rendition of “Rhythm of Life” by the Lower School Choir and a hauntingly beautiful arrangement of a traditional Yorkshire carol “We’ve Been Awhile A-Wandering” by the Male Voice Choir. Ensemble 123 had the audience tapping its feet with its enthusiastic performances of “Summer Nights” from “Grease” and the “Pink Panther” theme, while Big Band delighted everyone with “Got to get you into my life” and “Jingle Bells”.

Soul Band – still quite a new group that is clearly going from strength to strength – charmed the audience with its enthusiastic renditions of “Hold On I’m Comin’” and “Knock on Wood”. Brass Band ended the concert on a high with a number of pieces including a dramatic performance of the main theme tune from “Star Wars”.
