A small team of students from Code Club were entered for the Perse Braben Cup recently – a national competition that tests their ability to code under pressure and to tight deadlines. The team consisted of 2 students from S4 (Alex Pilakoutas and James Taylor) and two from S2 (Matthew Morris and Merlin Hancock.) With ten minutes of preparation time and 50 minutes of coding time available they had to choose which questions to answer and split into two pairs with no further communication. The boys were able to demonstrate good programming ability, although their question-choosing tactics may have let them down slightly. In the end team ‘AMMJ’ were placed joint 7th out of 120 teams who took part nationally, with every member of the team contributing valuable points. We look forward to honing our skills and improving this ranking in next year’s competition.
