Those lucky enough to see one of the two performances of our play ‘Petals’ were enthralled by the quality of the writing, acting and production values. It was a truly outstanding play – perhaps one of the best-ever performed at Birkdale.
Petals is an original play written by our very own Mr Kenyon. It is a play about family, love and friendship and the changes that occur at the outbreak of war in 1914. It is loosely based around the Sheffield ‘Pals’ regiment.
There were many outstanding performances and we were delighted that a number of parents and staff were among the cast. Special mention to Mrs Mohanamurali who was brilliant as the archetypal Indian mother and Cormac Murphy as John William Streets. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when the troops went ‘over the top’.
Our thanks to everyone involved, particularly our Director of Drama Mr Low, in putting together such a poignant and fitting commemoration to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
