Birkdale has been alive with the sound of music over the past few weeks. It began with the annual summer concert which was a fantastic showcase of musical talent with many bands and ensembles participating. It was a fantastic evening with some notable solo performances: Tey singing with Soul Band; Jack on double bass with the string orchestra and Keir playing the cornet with the brass band. Well done to all of our musicians for a polished and entertaining evening.

This was closely followed by the joint Sixth Form concert with Sheffield Girls’. The choir performed Handel’s Zadok the Priest accompanied by an orchestra made up of players from both schools. 6th form students also had the opportunity to perform solos. The concert had a ‘Royal’ theme so performance has to fit with this. Zadok the Priest is the coronation anthem.
