Birkdale has been awash with musical and performing arts talent over the last couple of weeks.
The end of the summer term is notoriously busy for the music department with the Lower School Young Performers Platform and performances at the Broomhill Festival and Whirlow Farm Fair to name but a few. The Young Performers Platform was a delight, with our youngest pupils showcasing their individual talents. There were soloists and performances by Ensemble 123.
The first Birkdale Variety night will go down in school history as demonstrating what makes Birkdale such a special place. Needless to say Mr Low was a tad nervous at taking on such a task, but the auditions had proven fruitful and the night was absolutely fantastic. The diverse range of talent was phenomenal and the packed and appreciative audience had a great evening of entertainment. The talent ranged from dancing, singing, comedy, acrobatics and “Rubix Cube Guy” went down a storm! The pinnacle of the evening was the finale ably performed by our very own Mr Low and Mrs Magenty as they sang the theme from Dirty Dancing. Their ironic performance ended with the entire cast on stage and everyone left feeling uplifted. We can’t wait for next year!
