Over 20 Sixth Form students attended an extra (after school) Medical Society workshop on Monday evening kindly run by a parent Dr Sarah Mitchell who is a local GP, a Macmillan GP and a Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield. Dr Mitchell explained the principles of medical ethics and then outlined a framework for ethical decision making.

The students then had the opportunity to discuss a difficult case which allowed them to consider the principles involved. This was so helpful to the Upper Sixth students who attended in preparation for medical school interviews that they have in next few days and weeks and also for the Lower Sixth who are considering applying for Medicine or Dentistry, many of whom have work experience in local hospitals during this term.

We are very grateful to Dr Mitchell for her time and to Mrs Jones for organising this session.
