The Birkdale Medical Society has continued remotely each week during this term via Google Meet, with the current Lower Sixth during Friday lunchtimes.
Many of the 22 members have managed to attend every Friday since 15th May. They have their own Google Classroom where they share resources and advice and updates on applications for Medicine and Dentistry.
Unfortunately, there were no guest speakers this term, but students have been able to access a series of tutorials via a subscription to The Medics Portal Medsoc – these have been on: Problem Based Learning, Ethics, Personal Statement Preparation, Choosing a Medical School and Aptitude tests. Some students have attended virtual work experience run by the Royal College of GP’s via an interactive video platform and by Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
We are currently looking at the new guidance and different aspects of the UCAT test before they break up for the summer.
