Birkdale has been one of Sheffield’s leading schools for over 100 years. Through its long and distinguished history, the school has continued to grow and evolve whilst always promoting an excellent education for pupils in a caring, Christian environment.

This September, Birkdale Prep welcomed girls into the school for the first time. Fifteen girls have joined the thriving school across 4 year groups and to mark this historic moment, Birkdale have also introduced a new school uniform. Girls have been attending Birkdale Sixth Form for over 30 years and the School plan to become fully co-educational, starting in the Senior School from 2024.

Head of the Prep School Chris Burch said: “We are thrilled to welcome all of our pupils back to school, but it is made extra special by the cohort of girls who join us for the first time. More girls than we imagined have joined us in this first year and we hope to build on this success in the future.”
