It was so lovely to see everyone celebrating the European Day of Languages.

At the Prep School there was an array of fabulous costumes and everyone enjoyed discussing their chosen Country and Language. A massive ‘well done’ to all pupils who came in such wonderful  attire, some of their creativity was truly spectacular! P3 even celebrated European Day of Languages in Maths by decoding some FDP problems to solve puzzles. The extra trick was that the codes were in different Languages.

The Senior School continued the theme by celebrating the day with an online assembly and languages quiz. 12 video clips were played with 9 different languages used (3 are used twice).  Mrs Higham, Head of Modern Foreign Languages at Birkdale Senior School decided to include a wide variety of languages, including non-European, to celebrate the diversity of languages taught and spoken within the Birkdale Community. The pupils said: “Hello. My name is _____  Welcome to Birkdale School.” The languages spoken are: Arabic, Bengali, Czech, German, Greek, Mandarin, Persian, Russian, Shona.
