S4 pupil Indy has achieved HSK1 in Mandarin. This is a significant achievement and we would like to congratulate him on his success.

Indy’s interest in learning Mandarin began in the Prep School and he continued his studies at Senior School and via online lessons throughout the periods of remote learning. He also enjoys learning other languages and hopes to continue learning German at GCSE.

Indy said; “Learning Mandarin is unlike any other language with symbols above words giving them several different meanings, but that is also what makes it fun! I will definitely continue learning the language and hope to travel to China someday. Mandarin is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and will be useful in later life.”

We would like to thank the Confucius Institute for their support in helping Indy and other Birkdale pupils achieving their goals.

If you are interested in your son or daughter learning Mandarin, please look out for the Birkdale Post sent out this week. Parents can sign their children up to after school Mandarin classes which start on Monday 4th October.
